Shape Your Future: Respond to the 2020 Census

Census Day 2020 is Wednesday, April 1. The 2020 Census will count every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. As part of our commitment to providing civic education and engagement for employees, we strongly encourage all employees to respond to the 2020 Census. Beginning in mid-March, each household will receive an invitation to respond to a short questionnaire and there are three ways to respond: online, by phone, or by mail. It’s never been easier to respond from your home!

Why the 2020 Census Matters
As mandated by the Constitution, the United States must country conduct a count of its population once every 10 years. Participating in the Census is required by law and is important for many reasons. Did you know…?

  • Data collected from the Census provides the basis for fair political representation.
  • It plays an important role in many areas of our daily lives, including funding for things like employment and training, infrastructure and education.
  • Census data informs federal funding for more than 100 programs, including school lunches, highway construction, and education.
