Global Supply Chain Fluidity: Transportation

International Paper is committed to safely and efficiently moving our products, whether by ocean carrier, railroad or truck. During these uncertain times, transportation is essential in keeping the global supply chain moving.

In the United States, International Paper is working to ensure that we can meet the delivery demands of our customers who are delivering food to restock grocery stores or emergency supplies for communities in need.  IP Government Relations is working with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to make sure that our products moving by truck are designated under the DOT’s Hours of Service emergency service declaration, to allow swifter deliveries to our customers at this critical time. In addition to working with DOT, IP Government Relations is pushing for a temporary lift on all federal truck weight limits for emergency shipments and coordinating with associations to ensure truck stops remain open to support drivers who are moving goods.

Government Relations is monitoring travel restrictions as states and localities are adopting measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The safe delivery of International Paper’s products must continue to ensure that communities in the U.S. and around the world have access to healthy and safe products.
